Winter

......and so its May, and winter is poised to fall upon Brisbane.

Except I'm not in Brisbane.

At various points of time since I came back, I still get flashbacks of life in Brisbane. Driving to the city through Coronation Drive (I forgot the name and actually had to Google it. See what a few month's absence does for you?), getting lunch at Mayfair Chicken Rice at Toowong, chilling out with friends at the various coffee joints that we'd uncovered in our two years' stay away from home. And it is always nice when your girlfriend lives a couple of streets away, a 2 minute drive when sober, or a 5 minute stumble when drunk......

And against all odds, one of my friends got hired for a job over there and got his wish to stay in the land of the kangaroos. He'd wanted to stay there so bad, he was willing to go out to the middle of nowhere (your turn to Google for Katherine in the Northern Territories) growing mangoes. Two years later, you get your permanent residency. I wanted to stay on, I went looking for a job, but I guess I wasn't looking in the right places or speaking to the right people.

So I packed up and came on home, got a job like everyone back home hoped I would, then got a car because I needed one and more importantly, wanted one. The job pays decently, I'm getting lots of exposure and learning for my new job. I won't say things come easy, but I've had to work for it. I've achieved some things in my short stay thus far, but I'm still figuring out if this is what, more importantly, where I want to build it up at. But still, I'm plodding along and biding my time.

The time will come.
