Gaining through losing
I'm a pretty big fan of an Australian magazine dealing with Japanese sportscars, High Performance Imports , and would follow the magazine whenever I can; the irritating thing about it is that it seldom comes regularly and isn't carried by every retailer like Top Gear or Motoring is.
Once while waiting for my date at the Orchard Road subway/MRT station, I did my usual bookshop browsing and stumbled upon a cache of back-issues and in pretty good condition to boot. The temptation was great...... but I passed them up for financial constraints. Sometimes, I pass by the bookshop, wonder if the stash was still there....... but I don't go in lest I succumb.
It sure was a pleasant surprise and a just reward for waiting, when, cruising the aisles of the local motor show, I came across the magazine distributor selling those very same back issues for $3 each. Needless to say, out came the wallet, and I went home with a stack of magazines.
It didn't strike me till later, but I had gained through giving it up at first. If it was meant to be, its meant to be, isn't it?
